INTRODUCTION
This is a very, very unique opportunity at a very, very unique church. City of Refuge Church is one of the most diverse churches in America. We are a racially, culturally, socioeconomically, educationally, and theologically diverse community. For example, at one of our baptisms, we baptized a former New York fashion model, an African-American teenager from the Third Ward, and an international student from China. Nestled in the heart of Houston, Christians from all around the city and the world call City of Refuge Church home. We are located between the Third Ward and the Medical Center.
City of Refuge is looking for an energetic and engaging full-time NextGen Pastor. Building on a current core group of about 30-40 active children and youth, the NextGen Pastor will be responsible for leading and expanding a program that will equip the next generation to make Christ known in their schools, communities, and workplaces.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:
• 4-year degree as well as 3-5 years of experience in Student and/or Children’s Ministries
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work productively without on-going supervision
• Experience leading staff, seeking their professional and personal growth
• Ability to work well and collaborate with team members, volunteers and other staff
• Ability to take the job seriously without taking yourself too seriously

Located south of downtown Houston, near the Texas Medical Center and several universities, City of Refuge is an active, growing Christian congregation with a focus of blending people of all ages, ethnicities, regional, educational, and economic backgrounds into a church united in worshiping, learning, loving, and serving. The racial composition of the church: 40% people of African descent, 40% people of European descent, and 20% Asian, Hispanic, and Biracial, roughly reflects that of the immediate neighborhood. Occupations are approximately 20% Business, 15% Professional, 25% Trades, 10% Stay-at-home parent, 5% Retired, and 25% Students. The staff of four full time and one part time ministers to the neighborhood as well as to church members living farther away.
