Job Description:

The Youth Pastor will grow, develop, and coordinate genuine communities where Middle School (6th-8th grade) and High School (9-12th grade) students can feel seen, heard and loved at Mercer Creek Church and in Kittitas County. The Youth Pastor will want to immerse themselves into the local community, not only building relationships with students - but with parents, educators and community members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the local church, local and global missions. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Grow, develop and coordinate Youth Ministry events, programs, outreach and discipleship at Mercer Creek Church. 
    • Coordinate all youth programming including, but not limited to: weekly gatherings, Sunday morning discipleship, special events, camps, and other outreach opportunities. 
    • Be active in Kittitas County, specifically in youth events/sports/areas where youth are engaged in order to build relationships with community members, families and students. 
    • Develop an environment where students can hear biblical teaching, develop genuine Christ-centered relationships, and serve others both locally and globally. 
  • Identify, recruit, equip, support and encourage a leadership team who can disciple and invest in students. 
    • Equip and train leaders through: prayer, regular check-in’s, training and discipleship.
  • Collaborate with other ministries to ensure a cohesive transition for students across ministries (Children's & Young Adult Pastors).
  • Supervise and develop staff and or/ interns to support ministry at Mercer Creek Church.
  • Regularly communicate relevant ministry information both internally (staff, volunteers, congregation) and externally (parents, students and community). 
  • Preach 3-4 times a year. 
  • Provide discipleship, counseling and care for volunteers, students, adults, and congregants of Mercer Creek Church. 
  • Manage Mercer Creek resources according to accepted budget and in conjunction with applicable policies. 
  • Actively participate in Mercer Creek Church staff meetings, events, and positively contribute to a servant leadership culture.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated strength of character and healthy spirituality by loving God, loving others and living a life transformed by Jesus. 
  • Demonstrated experience working/volunteering with youth. 
  • Commitment to Mercer Creek’s Roadmap (mission, values, strategic anchors and ongoing themes and goals).
  • Passion for the local church, global and local missions. 
  • Proven track record of success in equipping teams and leaders; ability to network and recruit
  • Demonstrated track record of hard work, professional accountability, clear communication, healthy conflict resolution and positive attitude in a variety of settings
  • Education (Ability and desire to be licensed by the Christian and Missionary Alliance)
  • Preferred experience: 2+ years in point leadership of volunteer teams

Mercer Creek Church is located in Ellensburg, Washington, approximately 2 hours East of Seattle a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains. Ellensburg is the county seat of Kittitas County and is also home to Central Washington University with just under 10,000 students and staff.
