Job Title: Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries

Role Overview
The Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries at Grace Evangelical Free Church is responsible for the teaching and leading of the Youth Ministry, while also providing Pastoral oversight, leadership, and guidance for the Children’s and Family Ministries. This
role will focus primarily on the day-to-day Pastoring and leading of the Youth Ministry, ensuring spiritual formation, discipleship, and active engagement of teens in their faith. Additionally, the Pastor will foster unity and cohesiveness across ministries
serving children through youth, supporting family engagement and discipleship within the home.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Ministry Leadership
- Provide visionary leadership for the Youth Ministry, ensuring that teens, while in this spiritually pivotal time of their lives, are growing in their faith and actively engaging in the life of the church.
- Oversee Wednesday night lessons, Sunday gatherings, and outreach events, encouraging students to grow, serve, and engage with their community.
- Recruit, train and mentor youth leaders and volunteers, empowering them to disciple students and lead ministry initiatives.
- Foster an evangelistic focus in the lives of teens, encouraging them to be salt and light in their homes, schools, activities, and workplaces by reflecting Jesus in their actions, words, and relationships.
- Ensure that a biblical worldview is consistently taught within the Youth Ministry, equipping students to navigate and apply biblical truths in a broken world.
- Encourage youth to take ownership of their faith by providing opportunities for personal growth, service, and leadership within the ministry.
Develop and implement programs and activities that challenge teens and preteens to deepen their understanding of Scripture and foster a closer relationship with Christ.
- Actively pray for and with students, families, and volunteers, creating a culture of spiritual support and intercession.
Children and Family Ministry Leadership
- Provide pastoral oversight and leadership for the Children’s Director and Children’s Ministry, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
- Collaborate with the Children’s Director to create and implement strategies that nurture spiritual growth in children and provide resources to parents for discipleship at home.
- Foster unity and cohesiveness between ministries serving children from newborn through youth by developing a strong vision and strategy for spiritual development.
- Equip parents and caregivers to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes by providing guidance, training, and resources to help them raise their children in God-honoring ways.
- Cultivate a partnership with families to nurture faith development and create a seamless transition between different age-focused ministries.
General Pastoral Responsibilities
- Assist with preaching and teaching as part of the pastoral team, occasionally filling the pulpit as needed.
- Work closely with the Lead Pastor and other staff to integrate the vision of family discipleship across all age groups.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall leadership and direction of the church.
Key Ministry Attributes and Qualifications
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ, with a heart for serving others and sharing the Gospel.
- Meets the qualifications of an elder as listed in 1st Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Three to five years of full-time ministry experience, preferably leading youth ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to teach biblical truths effectively and foster spiritual growth in teens.
- A clear understanding of youth culture and the challenges teens face, with a compassionate desire to walk alongside them in their faith journey.
- A commitment to fostering intergenerational discipleship and providing a welcoming church environment.
- Theological alignment with Grace Evangelical Free Church’s beliefs.
- In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith.
Additional Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and relational skills, preferably working with youth, children, and families.
- High energy and passion for youth ministry, creating excitement and engagement among students.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate events, activities, and volunteers effectively.
- Wisdom and good judgment when dealing with students, parents, and volunteers, fostering trust and accountability.
- Creative and innovative in developing programs and strategies that resonate with today’s youth and families.
Education Requirements
- College degree required
- Bible or Theology degree preferred
